From biomedical laboratory scientist to developer at Tradesolution

Frøy Øye had already completed one bachelor's degree when she decided to pursue another. She was trained as a biomedical laboratory scientist, but her interest in technology had grown. Programming and problem-solving drew her in a new direction. In 2022, she therefore started studying information technology at OsloMet.

She brought valuable experience into the new field. From her biomedical laboratory science education, she had learned to work analytically, systematically and precisely. From working life, she had experience with responsibility, collaboration and keeping a cool head. Now she would use these strengths to develop digital solutions.

Throughout her IT studies, Frøy worked with both frontend and backend. Among other things, she built a map-based web application and a math game for children. She also developed a training log to record and keep track of workout sessions. The common thread was turning a concrete need into something usable.

In her bachelor's project, she took on a challenge within artificial intelligence. Together with two fellow students, she developed an application to detect sponsor logos in football videos. The work involved creating a dataset, training an AI model and presenting the results in an application. The project brought together several of her interests: analysis, structure and practical development.

Frøy enjoys seeing the results of the work she puts in. In group projects, she readily takes responsibility for planning and progress. She likes creating order and making sure the team reaches its goal. These are qualities she has also developed through her experience as a shift supervisor with staff responsibility.

The path forward went through Loop Academy and into a job at Tradesolution. There, she continues to build on the expertise from her studies and her experience from working life. She brings with her both the biomedical scientist's precision and the developer's tools.

The career change has given Frøy a new direction in which to use her strengths. From the laboratory to code, her curiosity and ability to solve problems have come along. Today, that journey continues at Tradesolution.
