Three months of academy, twelve months on assignment - how the Loop model works

Permanent employment from day one. Three months of intensive training in Oslo. Twelve months on assignment with a partner. Up to three self-selected certifications along the way. Here is the whole programme, step by step.

Three months of academy, twelve months on assignment - how the Loop model works

We get the same question from candidates all the time. What actually is Loop Academy? Is it a course, a trainee scheme or a job?

The answer is that it is a job, with a learning period at the start.

Permanently employed from day one

Candidates are permanently employed by Loop Academy from their first working day. That means a salary, proper terms and predictability throughout the programme.

This is a deliberate choice. We believe the move from university to working life goes better when you are not worrying about what happens in twelve months.

Three months of on-site academy

Teaching always takes place in physical classrooms with a lecturer present. Classes are small, and the content is built around what the market asks for, what employers say graduates are missing, and what universities do not have the capacity to cover.

Candidates work on modern development practice, code quality, testing, architecture and teamwork. Alongside this they can take up to three self-selected, internationally recognised certifications.

Every learning path is individual. We adapt the content to both the candidate's background and the needs of the company they are heading to.

Twelve months on a real assignment

After the academy period, the candidate moves into a twelve-month assignment with one of our partners. They write code, join stand-ups, receive code reviews and solve real problems.

They are there to contribute, not to observe.

Throughout the assignment we follow up both the candidate and the company. Together that adds up to fifteen months of continuous professional and personal support.

And then, after fifteen months

The goal is permanent employment with the client, if both parties want it. Many of our candidates take that route.

If they do not, the candidate stays with Loop Academy and moves on to a new assignment. The security sits with us either way.

The point is not to keep people in a training programme for as long as possible. It is the opposite.

We want graduate developers to become productive quickly, take on responsibility and become a completely ordinary part of the team.
